Bereits vor 3 Jahren brachte die Scotch-Brennerei The Macallan eine 1824er Whisky-Serie auf den Markt. Die an das Gründungsjahr der Destillerie angelehnte Single Malt-Reihe war damals jedoch nur für den Duty Free-Handel geplant. Nun weitet Macallan die 1824er Serie auf den restlichen Handel aus, und geschmacklich hat man auch eine nette Idee im Gepäck. (Eye for Spirit)

The Macallan is planning to introduce a new range of single malt whiskies, the 1824 Series, to the UK market in the autumn.
Created by The Macallan whisky maker Bob Dalgarno and his team, it will be initially launched exclusively to the UK market.
The style will be the classic, signature The Macallan, 100% matured in Spanish oak sherry casks and it will focus on the brand's natural colour, delivering the full-bodied aromas and flavours for which the brand is known.
The move follows extensive work with distributors Maxxium UK, as well as other key market partners, to meet the growing demand.
Ken Grier, director of malts, at Edrington, said: "The 1824 Series will introduce a new approach to The Macallan in the UK market for single malt drinkers to enjoy and underlines our ongoing commitment to leading innovation.
"The move represents a major step in the evolution of The Macallan and we are extremely excited to be introducing this into the UK market first."
The first expression in the 1824 Series will be available from September, followed by further expressions in 2013.
